Uranium Market Outlook
The uranium market is one of the most opaque in the world. Uranium price has followed a non-linear movement, with various ups and downs accompanying the evolution of economic and financial systems and global events. Uranium reached its peak price of 136 dollars a pound in mid-2007 (OECD Nuclear Energy Agency and the International Atomic Energy Agency, 2012). After the onset of the credit crisis, decreasing price has pursued the price path of other commodities. From $78 in 2008, it sharply declined to a low of $40 during the financial turmoil and increased again to nearly $72 in early 2011, only to more ...

House Republicans are making themselves ready with a backup plan that would compel the U.S. Treasury to start by making interest payments on U.S. bonds and then prioritize with other government pay outs if Congress fails to increase the debt ceiling. Advocates of the plan see it as a politically palatable option to default, which could send the financial markets southwards as witnessed in the summer of 2011. The possibility of another market-disturbing event taking place is prompting Republicans to look for a different plan as they employ the debt limit as a means of mining spending cuts from Presi more ...

What is the Stock Market and why is it so Fickle?
What is the stock market? Economists might say that it is the perfect example of an efficient market place where traders can come together to buy and sell securities. Prices of securities move freely, up or down, following the laws of supply and demand. Other observers might contend that the stock market is not an efficient market place and that it is far from perfect. They believe that the market is manipulated and those that know how to play the game the best are the ones that profit the most. Whether you take a positive view or a more cynical view of the stock market, there are certain indisputa more ...

In the past six months, the euro has gained by about 8% against the U.S. dollar. And, this week, the common currency traded above $1.34 against the dollar for the first time since February 2012. It is important to note that the 17-nation currency has rallied amid increasing signals in the financial markets that the economic probl more ...
